Day in the Life - Wollaton Park

Brother and sister playing chase at Wollaton Park, Nottingham

It was a wonderful weekend to be out in Wollaton Park, Nottingham with the family taking photos.

We didn’t get off to the best of starts though, when we arrived we realised we didn’t have any change for parking. Not to worry I thought as we passed card ticket machines and an ice cream van, change wouldn’t be a problem, or so I thought.

The first machine I went to didn’t have a card option so off in search I went, I got to another, the card section of the machine didn’t do anything, maybe it was just broken. So I went off back to the one we passed earlier, the card machine part wasn’t working either, in fact none of the card machines I went to were working, very frustrating to say the least.

So the ice cream van became my only option, you might be able to guess, but they didn’t offer change. So I had to buy several bottles of water to have enough change for parking.

After we’d sorted out the parking situation we met up with friends and went in search of a place to set up.

Picnic blanket, bats and balls, footballs and a ball/frizby thing all came out and before we knew it, it was time to break out the picnic.

After we had all been fed and watered, it was time to be active again, the kids went on bikes and chased each other around. The light was so beautiful under the trees, I came away with some beautiful portraits of the kids having fun.

And what trip out to the park on a sunny day wouldn't be complete without a Mr Whippy 99 ice-cream! The camera wasn't out for that though as I was also enjoying a 99 while trying to save the kids from a mess of melted ice-cream.

At the end of the day, we all had a great time, such a great time we did it all again the following day in Leicester.

When it came to edit the photos there were a few that work great in both colour and black and white. Both versions are below so you can see. Let me know which you prefer.
